Project Highlight: Harris County Processing Center, Texas
In 2016, the detention division of Montgomery Technology Systems, LLC (MTS) was asked to step up and rescue the Harris County, Texas Joint Processing Center project. This project was directly affected by the collapse of a prominent Detention Equipment Contractor (DEC), and the bonding company for the project sought out a reputable contractor to quickly step in and finish the project.
Small Detention Facilities Still Have Big Needs
In today’s market often times the smaller Detention Facilities are left behind in their detention control equipment. In many cases their county does not have the resources available to acquire the most important components that help in securing their facility effectively. Whether there are constraints with budgets for staffing, medical, or other reasons a lot of emphasis is not placed on Life Safety and Security. Montgomery Technology Systems, LLC (MTS) is proud to be a cost-effective solution for these needs, offering high end electronics that are robust and built for any size facility. One project that MTS had the opportunity to meet such needs was Marshall County Jail in Madill, OK.
Smoother Jail Construction – A Detention Equipment Contractor’s Perspective
Whether you are building a tree house or a high-rise, there will always be challenges that are unique to each project. Jails and prisons certainly have their own unique considerations that go beyond normal building means and methods. These facilities are high-occupancy, high-security buildings that require thicker concrete, higher rated steel, and thicker glass than any other type of building. They also require subcontractors who have experience with these distinctions. In this article, I’d like to lay out five considerations that those who are planning, designing, and managing the construction of a detention facility should weigh.
Why The Detention Market Needed Another Detention Equipment Contractor
A year ago, Montgomery Technology Systems, LLC announced that we were getting into the Detention Equipment Contracting business. By a shear act of Providence, we were able to absorb most of the core team from CCC Group’s detention contracting division, meaning that we were able to hit the ground running as a Detention Equipment Contractor. This past year has proven that decision to be a wise one for a number of reasons. But, with all of the recent ups and downs in the detention contracting market, some might wonder why we did it. Why would MTI, after 30 years of success as a detention control system manufacturer, choose to jump all in as a Detention Equipment Contractor? In this article, I want to explain why our market needed another DEC, and why we believe MTI/MTS was uniquely suited to fill that void.
